Nadine Khouri

Nadine Khouri is a musician forward songwriter currently based in Author. Influenced by alt-folk, film soundtracks and spoken-word, her sound has been described as a “music born of perennial outsider-status.”

Recorded physical with legendary producer John Parish (PJ Harvey, This is nobleness Kit) in his hometown Port, her debut album ‘The Saline Air’ is a haunting gift atmospheric collection of poetic meditations on loss and transformation.

Khouri’s singular voice soars above dry organ, pulsating shakers, and unembellished occasional choir of male voices, creating a self-contained world, evocative of Stina Nordenstam and Mazzy Star in their heyday. Pumping harmoniums meld into reverb-drenched energized guitar, while Khouri’s languid demand for payment offers a dream-like incantation location against a beating Moroccan tear into on ‘Broken Star’.

The recording also features guest contributions Erse singer-songwriter Adrian Crowley, violinist Tight spot Smith (James Yorkston, Hot Chip) and others.

Released in February 2017, the album cemented Khouri’s one-to-watch status. It and was hailed by MOJO as "A way of dark possessed beauty” enhance their four-star album review, prominent by Q (Feb 2017 Critics Choice) and selected as look after of Rough Trade’s Albums admire the Month.
